Glorex candle stearin 500 g – additive for whiter candles with a steadier burn
Glorex candle stearin is an additive that you mix with wax granules to make home-poured candles whiter and improve how they burn. According to Glorex, candles take on a lovely white colour when 10 to 20 % stearin is added. Burning properties and burning time also improve, the candle burns more steadily and produces less soot.
The melting point is 56 °C. The pack contains 500 g. At 10–20 %, that is enough for 2.5 to 5 kg of finished wax mixture, which helps with planning quantities.
Using stearin
Stearin is an additive, not a substitute for the base wax. Mix it with wax granules and pour the mixture as usual. For a mixture of 1 kg of wax granules, use 100 to 200 g of stearin. Start at the lower end if you want to try out the result first.
- Melt the wax granules and stearin together in a suitable container
- Never leave the melting container unattended while heating, and do not let any water get into the liquid wax
- Pour the mixture into the prepared mould or a container with a wick and leave to cool completely
Removing the candle from the mould
According to Glorex, put the candle in the fridge first to release it from the mould. As it cools, it comes away from the mould more easily. Do not pull hard on the wick, or it may tear out of the candle.
