Décopatch Unicorn Kit – Papier-Mâché Unicorn to Cover with Paper

With the Décopatch Unicorn Kit you decorate a papier-mâché unicorn to your own taste. Tear the printed Décopatch papers into small pieces and stick them onto the figure bit by bit with the glue and brush from the set until it is completely covered. Everything you need for the unicorn is in the kit – a good start if you are trying the Décopatch technique for the first time.

How to proceed

• Tear the paper into pieces. Small pieces fit curves such as the head, horn and legs better, while larger ones cover flat areas more quickly.
• Brush a small area of the figure with glue and lay a piece of paper on top.
• Brush glue over the paper once more, always working from the centre outwards. This presses out air bubbles and wrinkles.
• Place the next pieces next to it, slightly overlapping, until the whole figure is covered.
• Let the unicorn dry completely and clean the brush straight after use.

Avoiding common mistakes

If you apply too much glue at once, the thin paper soaks through and tears when you brush it down. Work with a little glue at a time and in small sections. Wrinkles usually appear when a piece is too big for a curve – tear it into smaller pieces instead. For figures that are handled often, you can apply an extra coat of varnish after drying, for example Décopatch varnish (not included). Décopatch papers are also available individually if you would like to combine more designs.
