Proxxon special polishing wheels – smoothing cut edges on acrylic and Plexiglas

The Proxxon special polishing wheels (art. no. 28296) smooth and polish the cut edges of acrylic and Plexiglas. This leaves visible edges clean and smooth after sawing or cutting. The set contains 4 wheels, 22 mm in diameter, and a mandrel with a Ø 2.35 mm shank. The mandrel is already included, so you can get started straight away and simply swap in a new wheel when one is worn.

The wheels are 6 mm thick. This makes it easy to work narrow edges, and you can guide the wheel evenly along the edge.

How to polish a cut edge

Clamp the mandrel with a polishing wheel in your tool and secure the workpiece firmly so that it cannot slip. Wear safety goggles. Guide the running wheel along the edge with light pressure and an even motion. Acrylic softens with frictional heat, so it is better to work at low to medium speed, not to stay in one spot and not to press hard. Heavy pressure and stopping in one place can smear or melt the edge.
