AMI A175 Flat Brush, 50 mm, for Oil and Acrylic Paint

AMI A175 Flat Brush, 50 mm – Wide Synthetic Brush for Priming and Painting Large Areas

The AMI A175 series flat brush, 50 mm wide, is a synthetic brush for oil and acrylic paints. You can use it to prime large surfaces and apply paint broadly and evenly. The strong, springy synthetic fibres are short and burgundy in colour, and are set in a metal ferrule. The short, black-lacquered wooden handle keeps the brush close to the surface, so you work with control and can apply pressure.

Synthetic fibres absorb less moisture than natural bristles and wash out well. That is why the brush suits water-based acrylic paints as well as oil paints.

What the wide flat brush is for

At 50 mm wide, it covers large areas in a few strokes: priming canvases, laying in backgrounds, painting walls or wood. You can also use it to blend layers of paint softly into one another and to apply broad strokes of colour. The metal ferrule holds the fibres firmly together, so the brush keeps its shape even under firm pressure.

Care and choosing a brush

Wash the brush out immediately after painting, especially with acrylic paint: dried-on residue glues the fibres together permanently. Do not leave it standing in water, as the fibres will bend out of shape. For details, outlines and narrow areas you need a smaller brush; the 50 mm flat brush is intended for large areas.
