The da Vinci NOVA round brush series 1670 is a long-handled brush with extra-fine, golden synthetic fibres for linear, drawing-style painting and detail work with oil and acrylic paints. The round shape tapers to a fine point: with light pressure you paint thin lines, and with more pressure the stroke becomes broader.

The handle is long and polished green, and the ferrule is silver. According to da Vinci, the series is vegan and is made in Germany. Choose your size from the options.

Working with the round brush

Pick up the paint only with the tip and the front part of the fibres, and the point will stay fine. For outlines, hair, branches or lettering, draw the brush with little pressure and hold it as upright as possible. With the long handle, you hold the brush at the end and work with a relaxed wrist, which makes linear strokes more even. Thin acrylic paint slightly if it is too thick for long, fine lines.

Size and care

The higher the size number, the broader the brush body and the more paint the brush holds. Small numbers are for the finest details, larger ones for longer lines and small areas. Clean the brush straight after painting: acrylic with water and soap, oil with brush cleaner and then with soap. Afterwards, never stand it in water with the fibres facing down, or the tip will bend.
