Pelikan K12 Watercolour Paint Box with Opaque White

Pelikan K12 Paint Box – 12 Colours and Opaque White for School and Hobby

The Pelikan K12 is a watercolour paint box with 12 colours and a tube of opaque white (7.5 g) for art lessons, school and hobby use. With yellow, magenta and cyan blue it contains the three primary colours, so you can try out colour theory and colour mixing in practice. According to Pelikan, the colours have a high pigment density and therefore strong opacity and brilliance.

The paint pans are replaceable and can be bought individually. When a colour is used up, you only replace the pan and not the whole box. The lid has mixing wells and a name field you can write on, and there is space for brushes in the box. The blue Pelikan water box or the elephant water box can be clipped onto the side. The box is made in Germany.

Mixing colours with the primaries

From yellow (59a), magenta (43) and cyan blue (128) you can mix the secondary colours orange, violet and green as well as many other shades. Mix in the mixing wells in the lid rather than in the paint pans, so the colours in them stay clean. Rinse the brush well when changing colour. With the opaque white from the tube you can lighten shades and obtain opaque pastel colours. Use the white in small amounts, as it quickly covers the other colours.

Avoiding and removing stains

Do not let paint dry on clothing: dried paint is very difficult to remove. Wash out fresh paint immediately with lukewarm water, a brush and soap. Do not use the washing machine or stain remover for this.

K12 or K24?

The K12 is enough for school lessons and colour theory, because you mix almost all other shades yourself. If you would like more ready-made colours, the range also includes the Pelikan K24 paint box with 24 colours.
