Schmincke HORADAM Galaxy Watercolour Tin, 5 Half Pans + Brush

Schmincke HORADAM Galaxy – super-granulating watercolour paints with travel brush

The Schmincke HORADAM "Galaxy" metal tin is a watercolour set with 5 super-granulating colours in half pans and a daVinci travel brush. You can paint night skies, nebulae and planet surfaces, where the paint dries with a visibly grainy texture.

The colours are called Galaxie Rosa, Galaxie Violett, Galaxie Blau, Galaxie Braun and Galaxie Schwarz. The tin also has room for further half pans, so you can add your own colours to the set.

Working with super-granulating colours

Schmincke creates the strong granulating effect by combining at least two granulating HORADAM pigments in each colour. It shows most clearly on rough paper, because the pigments settle into the paper texture. Apply the paint with plenty of water and do not work it any further: the more undisturbed it can dry, the grainier and livelier the area becomes. On smooth paper the effect is weaker.

Colours and brush in the set

Pink, violet and blue are suitable for gradients in night skies and nebulae, while brown and black add dark accents and depth, for example for planet surfaces. The daVinci travel brush supplied has golden synthetic fibres, a silver ferrule and a two-piece handle in artificial horn. Its screw-on mechanism protects the brush in transit. Tin and brush fit into your bag together when you paint on the go.
