The Schmincke HORADAM watercolour metal tin Edition Gold contains six limited-edition gold shades in half pans for shimmering gold effects in your watercolours: White Gold (891), Rose Gold (895), Red Gold (896), Yellow Gold (897), Antique Gold (898) and Light Gold (899). The set suits accents, borders, lettering, illustrations and cards.

The gold-lacquered metal tin has a ribbed design and two empty rails. There you will find room for 12 more half pans. This lets you expand the set later with your favourite colours without changing tin.

Colours and binder

The pans are filled with liquid paint in 4 stages and contain gum arabic as a binder. As a result, the colours can easily be reactivated after drying. So you can always use dried-on pans again. The six shades range from pale White Gold through Rose Gold and Red Gold to warm Yellow Gold and Antique Gold. You can use them as single accents or set several gold shades side by side.

Adding gold accents

Put a few drops of water on the pan and let the paint soften briefly. Then pick it up with a damp brush. Metallic colours reflect light, so the gold looks different depending on the angle. Accents show up especially well on dry, rather dark areas of colour, because the contrast emphasises the shine. It is best to rinse your brush between gold shades so that the colours do not mix.
