Prym Short Darning Needles – No. 5/0–1/0, Pack of 6
The short Prym darning needles (art. no. 124662) are made of hardened steel and have the tapered point of a sewing needle, but are more sturdily built. The larger eye lets you thread wool and thicker yarns, for example to darn socks or knitwear. The pack contains 6 needles in sizes 5/0 to 1/0.
According to Prym, they are suitable for coarse and fine darning with yarns or cotton threads, for tacking and for mending jumpers and thicker fabrics such as workwear.
How to darn a hole
Place a darning egg or darning mushroom under the area so that it lies smooth. First stretch threads in one direction across the hole, extending each one a little way into the intact knitted fabric. Then weave across them, passing alternately over and under these threads. Use yarn of a similar thickness to the original and do not pull too tight, otherwise the area will pucker.
