Prym Long Darning Needles Nos. 3–9 – for fine and heavier darning
Prym long darning needles are intended for darning woollen clothing, socks and knitted items. The pack contains 10 needles, assorted in Nos. 3 to 9.
The needles are made of hardened steel. The surface is burr-free and rust-resistant, and the tapered point glides easily through the fabric. The proportionally large eye makes it easier to thread wool and sturdier yarns.
Which needle number should you choose?
The higher the number, the finer the needle. With the assortment you have both fine and heavier needles to hand and can choose to suit your yarn: thin darning yarn and fine knitwear need a higher number, while thick wool and chunky knitted items need a lower number with a larger eye.
How to darn a hole
Thread the yarn and pass the needle through the edge of the hole from the wrong side. First lay threads in one direction across the hole, each one reaching into the firm fabric beside it. Then weave across them, alternately over and under the laid threads. Do not pull the yarn too tight, otherwise the area will pucker.
