YKK metal trouser zip – closed-end, 10 cm

The YKK trouser zip with silver-coloured metal teeth is a closed-end zip for the trouser fly. The closable length is 10 cm. You can also use it for bags.

When closed, the chain is approx. 0.4 cm wide, and chain and tape together measure approx. 2.4 cm. Use these measurements to plan your seam allowance and fly opening width. Closed-end means the bottom end is fixed, so the zip cannot be opened completely like a jacket zip. Choose the colour of the tape from the options.

Inserting the zip

Pin the zip to the edge of the opening with the teeth facing down and tack it in place. Sew alongside the chain with a zip foot. Never sew over the metal teeth, as the needle may break. Close the zip before sewing it in and check that the slider runs freely.
