Efco Beeswax Pastilles – for Pouring and Dipping Candles and Making Beeswax Wraps

Efco beeswax pastilles are made of 100% pure beeswax and are suitable for pouring or dipping real beeswax candles. The pastille form makes the wax easy to weigh out and melt evenly, without having to break up blocks.

The melting point is approx. 64–65 °C. You can also use the wax to coat candles or as an addition to wax granules (approx. 10%). It is also popular for homemade beeswax wraps, which serve as a replacement for cling film.

Pouring and dipping candles

Melt the pastilles in a water bath or a melting pot over a low heat, not directly on the hob. Make sure that no water gets into the liquid wax. To pour a candle, pour the wax into a candle mould with the wick already threaded through. To dip a candle, dip the wick again and again and let the layers of wax dry slightly in between until the candle has reached the thickness you want. To coat candles, briefly dip finished candles into the liquid wax.

Making your own beeswax wraps

For a beeswax wrap, sprinkle the pastilles evenly onto a cotton cloth between sheets of baking paper. Use an iron on a medium setting to spread the melting wax through the fabric. Alternatively, it melts in the oven at 80 °C in approx. 5 minutes. While the wax is still liquid, brush it out to the edges. To clean the wrap, lukewarm water without washing-up liquid is enough.
