Rayher fine felting needles – for details in needle felting

The Rayher fine felting needles come as a set of 3 needles for needle felting. You use them to compact wool fibres and work small details neatly. The fine needles tangle the fibres tightly, creating smooth surfaces, for example on faces, paws or jewellery pendants.

The needles are 78 mm long. You can use them on their own or insert them in a Rayher felting needle holder, which takes up to six needles. A simple Rayher felting needle handle also holds one needle. With 3 needles, you have spares to hand if one breaks.

Working with fine felting needles

Place the wool on a brush mat or a foam pad and push the needle straight in and straight out again. Do not move it sideways or lever it, as it may break. Keep your fingers well away from the area you are stabbing. If you first pre-felt a shape with a coarser needle, you then use the fine needle to work the details and smooth the surface.

Choosing a needle

As well as the fine needle, Rayher also offers coarse (5362000) and medium (5362100) felting needles. Use the fine needle for detail work and finishing; coarser needles are better for quickly shaping larger areas.
