Prym Tapestry Needles No. 16 – blunt tip with a large eye for wool
The Prym tapestry needles No. 16 (art. no. 125549) are blunt needles for coarse embroidery with wool and thick yarns. The pack contains 6 needles made of hardened steel. The eye is correspondingly large for coarser yarns and wool, so you can thread thick strands more easily. According to Prym, the rounded tip is gentle on the fibres of the material.
According to Prym, the balanced ratio of length to thickness gives good elasticity in use. The needle is 55 mm long and 1.6 mm in diameter.
What the needles are used for
Use the needles for coarse embroidery with wool or other thick yarns. As the tip is blunt, you pass it through existing openings in the fabric or in your work rather than piercing the fibres. Prym also mentions sewing in wool ends: you can use the needle to draw yarn ends through the stitches on the back without splitting the threads of your work.
Is the size right?
No. 16 belongs to a range that Prym offers in sizes No. 14 to 26. If your yarn no longer passes comfortably through the eye, choose a more suitable size from this range.
