Prym weaving and packing needles – for thick yarn and firm fabrics
The Prym weaving and packing needles (art. no. 131120) are two sturdy hand needles for sewing up and weaving with thick yarn and firm, coarsely woven fabrics such as jute or linen. The set contains one weaving needle and one packing needle, both 15 cm long and made of hardened steel.
The large needle eye takes thick yarns, so threading is quick. The packing needle has a flattened, curved point that also pierces tightly woven, taut fabrics. The weaving needle has a rounded point that is gentle on the material.
Which needle for which job?
Use the packing needle when you need to pierce thick, firm or taut fabrics, for example when closing sacks or sewing mats with coarse stitches. The weaving needle is suited to weaving and to sewing in yarn ends, because the rounded point slides between the threads without cutting them. When sewing in ends in jute, coarse wool or linen, guide the needle through the existing stitches or threads rather than making new holes.
