Beadalon WildFire 0.15 mm – waterproof beading thread for weaving and embroidery
Beadalon WildFire in white, 0.15 mm thick, is a synthetic, braided and supple beading thread for jewellery making. The smooth coating is thermally bonded. The thread is waterproof and colourfast, hardly stretches and has a breaking strength of 4.5 kg according to the manufacturer. The spool holds 18.3 m (20 yd), which helps you plan quantities for bracelets, necklaces or smaller weaving projects.
The colour is abrasion-resistant and does not rub off on your fingers. Because WildFire is thermally bonded, you do not need to pre-condition it and can start working straight away. The thread is made in the USA.
What WildFire is used for
WildFire is suitable for bead weaving, bead embroidery, loom work and bead knitting. It is often used together with Miyuki beads. The smooth surface glides easily through the beads, and the low stretch helps woven patterns keep their shape.
Threading and choosing the thickness
The coating is so firm that the thread cannot be pierced with a needle. To make threading easier, flatten the tip with flat-nose pliers. The thickness depends on the hole of your beads and on how many times the thread needs to pass through a bead. Besides 0.15 mm with 4.5 kg (10 lb), the range includes 0.20 mm with a breaking strength of 5.5 kg (12 lb).
