The thread is mercerised, which gives it an even sheen. The twist keeps the thread round and the stitches regular. That matters in fine patterns, because every stitch shows. As the thread is a solid colour, lace patterns and relief work stand out particularly clearly.

What Freccia size 12 is used for

The fine thread is suitable for filet crochet, lace, doilies, table runners, crochet patchwork, fine edgings and tatting, and it is also used for bobbin lace. The higher the size number of a crochet thread, the finer the thread. Size 12 therefore produces delicate patterns with clear definition.

Working with it

Crochet with a fine hook of 1.25–1.5 mm. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. For filet patterns and doilies the tension should be even, so a small swatch before you start is worthwhile. For larger pieces such as table runners, allow for several balls and buy them together if possible so that the shade stays consistent.
