Mayco Jungle Gems CG-963 Lemon Lime – crystal glaze for decorative ceramics
Mayco Jungle Gems Crystal Glaze CG-963 Lemon Lime is a liquid crystal glaze for bisque-fired ware that forms coloured crystals during firing. It is ready to use and comes in a 118 ml (4 fl oz) container.
The crystals spread during firing and form a different pattern on every piece. You can use it to decorate vases, bowls and other decorative objects. The glaze is intended for decorative purposes only, not for dinnerware or items that come into contact with food. According to Mayco, the surface may crackle. According to the ACMI, the AP (Approved Product) seal means: no hazard labelling required.
Applying and firing the glaze
Stir the glaze well before each use and shake the container so that the crystals are distributed. Work on clean, bisque-fired ceramics.
- Apply 2–3 even coats with a fan brush
- Allow to dry between coats
- For the third coat, redistribute the crystals if necessary so that they cover evenly
- Allow to dry thoroughly and fire at cone 06/05 (approx. 998 °C to approx. 1031 °C, guide value per Orton chart)
Crystals and colour in the firing
The crystals flow during firing. Do not place them near the base, otherwise they may run and fuse to the kiln shelf. At temperatures higher than cone 05, the colours become paler. A test piece on your own clay body will show you beforehand how the crystals look in your case.

Jungle Gems is a series of crystal glazes in many shades. They are applied and fired in the same way; the shade CG-963 Lemon Lime differs in colour and crystal effect.
