Botz stoneware glaze 9863 Vergissmeinnicht – soft satin light blue with fine effects

Botz 9863 Vergissmeinnicht is a liquid brush-on stoneware glaze in a bright, soft satin light blue with fine effects. You fire it in the stoneware range from 1220 to 1280 °C. The tub contains 200 ml.

The firing temperature determines how the blue looks in the end. At 1220 °C the colour is darker and richer, the surface more matt and the effects less pronounced. At 1250 °C, the recommended firing temperature, you get a medium blue with a granite-matt surface and attractive effects. At 1280 °C the glaze becomes lighter and glossier and shows the most effects. If you want to achieve a particular blue, choose the right temperature beforehand.

Application

Stir the glaze well before use so that any settled particles are evenly distributed again. Apply 2 to 3 coats with a brush, ideally 3, and let each coat dry thoroughly before applying the next. Applying too thin a coat is a common reason for pale, uneven colour. A test piece made from your own clay will show you beforehand how the light blue looks with your firing schedule.

Firing

Fire in the stoneware range. The hold time of 30 minutes applies at the recommended temperature of 1250 °C.

• 1220 °C: darker, richer colour, more matt, fewer effects
