Efco Clay Cutter 660 mm – Cut Clay and Loam Cleanly into Pieces

With the Efco clay cutter, you divide fresh clay or loam into manageable pieces. Two wooden handles are joined by a steel wire. Use it to cut large blocks of clay or freshly mixed material cleanly through before you shape, throw or build with it.

The tool is suitable for hobby pottery and modelling as well as for the ceramics workshop. The handles let you hold the wire taut with both hands, so you do not need to touch the clay.

How to cut a block of clay

Place the block on a firm, level work surface. Take hold of both handles, pull the wire taut and draw it evenly through the clay from one edge until the block is cut through. Pull evenly and without twisting, and the cut surface stays smooth. If you want slices of equal thickness, position the wire at the same distance from the edge each time.

Care

After use, wipe any clay residue off the wire and leave the tool to dry. A clean, straight wire cuts more evenly than one with dried-on crumbs of clay.
