Botz PRO 9300 Transparent – liquid clear glaze for earthenware and stoneware
Botz PRO 9300 Transparent is a glossy liquid glaze for earthenware and stoneware. You apply it with a brush to bisque-fired ceramics. It is transparent, so the clay or decoration underneath stays visible. The firing range of the PRO series is very wide at 1020–1280 °C. This means you can glaze earthenware at the lower end and stoneware at high firing with the same glaze. The glaze is also suitable for high firing and can be combined with Botz Unidekor.
The bottle contains 800 ml and is made in Germany. Colour 9300 Transparent is also available in 200 ml. The PRO series includes further shades such as Opalweiß, Achatgrau, Citringelb and Seladongrün.
Applying the glaze
Stir the glaze well before use and apply it to the bisque-fired, dust-free piece. For the PRO series, earthenware from 1020 °C needs 2 to 3 coats, and clays fired at around 1150 °C need 2 coats. Let each coat dry before applying the next. At high firing, the PRO series gives a glassy, semi-transparent surface, and good results are also reported on porcelain at 1250 °C.
- Firing range: 1020–1280 °C
- Earthenware from 1020 °C: 2–3 coats
- Clay with a firing temperature of approx. 1150 °C: 2 coats
- High firing: glassy, semi-transparent surface
Avoiding runs and combining
The glaze tends to run when applied thickly. Apply it evenly and not too thickly, and leave the foot of the piece unglazed. This keeps the kiln shelf clean. Because 9300 Transparent is not opaque, the clay colour and decoration determine the result. With Botz Unidekor you can create designs and then glaze over them with the clear glaze. A test tile will show you beforehand how the glaze and clay work together for you.
