Botz 9102 Liquid Glaze – transparent gloss glaze for bisque-fired ceramics
Botz 9102 Transparent Gloss liquid glaze is a colourless, glossy glaze for bisque-fired ceramics, which you brush on straight from the container. After firing, the glaze stays see-through: the clay, engobes or Unidekor underneath remain visible and gain a glassy shine. It is stable in the firing range of 1020–1060 °C, but can also be fired up to 1100 °C and is suitable for raku.
The liquid glaze comes ready to use in an 800 ml container. It belongs to the Botz series of liquid glazes for earthenware, which also includes white glazes and engobes in various colours. The 9102 is the clear version with no colour of its own.
Application
Stir the glaze thoroughly before each use, as particles settle in the container. If it is too thick, add a little water. Apply the glaze once only with a soft, thick brush and let it dry thoroughly. The brush spreads the glaze evenly without leaving streaks. The clay body must be bisque-fired beforehand, at 950 °C or above.
- Stir the container thoroughly
- Stir in a little water if needed
- Apply once to bisque-fired ceramics with a soft, thick brush
- Leave to dry thoroughly and fire within the firing range
When to use a clear glaze
Use a clear glaze when you want the colour of the clay or a decoration underneath to stay visible, for example with engobes or Botz Unidekor. The glaze is also suitable for raku firing. The colour of your clay affects the result: on a light clay body the piece looks clear and bright, on dark clay it looks darker. A test tile made from your clay shows you in advance how the result will look in your firing.
