Botz 9102 liquid glaze – clear gloss glaze for ceramics

Botz 9102 Clear Gloss liquid glaze is a ready-to-use, colourless glaze that gives a clear, glossy surface after firing. Use it when the colour or decoration underneath should stay visible, for example over engobes, underglaze decoration or glaze painting. The tin contains 200 ml.

Because the glaze is transparent, the base determines the result: a pale clay body and painted colours show through, and patterns remain visible. If you would rather have a white glazed surface, Botz 9101 White is its counterpart in the same liquid glaze series. 9102 is also available in an 800 ml size, which is worthwhile for larger quantities.

Applying the glaze

Stir the glaze thoroughly before use, as particles settle in the tin. Apply it evenly with a brush or dip the piece into it. An even coat matters: thicker areas can look different after firing than thinner ones.

Tips for a clean result

Leave the foot of the piece free of glaze so that it does not stick to the kiln shelf. Firing a test tile with your own clay and decoration shows you beforehand how colours look under the clear glaze.
