Botz liquid glaze 9372 Schilfgrün – glossy light green for earthenware
Botz liquid glaze 9372 Schilfgrün is a glossy, opaque glaze in a soft, yellowish light green for earthenware. It is a single solid colour, and you apply it with a brush to bisque-fired ceramics. Because it is opaque, it can also be used on coloured clays.
The glaze melts very well and, according to Botz, does not tend to run even at 1100 °C. This gives you some leeway during firing, without putting the kiln shelf and the foot of the piece at immediate risk. It is also suitable for raku.
Application
The glaze is ready to use. Stir it thoroughly before applying, as the colour particles settle in the tub. If needed, you can thin it with a little water.
- Bisque-fire the ceramics beforehand at 950 °C or above
- Apply with a brush and allow to dry well
- If needed, apply a further coat and allow this to dry completely too
- Firing range: 1020–1060 °C, can be fired up to 1100 °C
Choosing from the range and tips
Schilfgrün is a light, slightly yellowish green. If you would like a stronger or more bluish green, take a look at Jadegrün 9373 or Dschungelgrün 9378 in the Botz liquid glaze range. As the glaze is opaque, the colour of the clay barely shows through. A test tile will still show you in advance how the green looks on your clay and in your kiln. Do not apply the glaze right down to the base of the piece, so that nothing touches the kiln shelf.
