Rico Design rectangular rubber stamp blocks – soft rubber for carving your own stamps

The Paper Poetry rubber stamp block from Rico Design is a soft rubber block for carving your own stamp designs. The material is similar to an eraser and is very easy to work with carving tools. At 7 mm thick, there is enough depth to carve around lines and areas cleanly.

The pack contains 3 pieces, each 4.5 x 8 cm. The size fits the rectangular stamp handle, so you can turn your carved design into a stamp that is easy to hold. Three blocks give you room for trial designs or several stamps for one project, for example for cards, gift tags or paper decorations.

How to carve your stamp

First draw your design on the rubber in pencil. A stamp prints as a mirror image, so you need to draw lettering and numbers in reverse. What is left standing will print later; everything that should stay white is carved away.

• First score the outlines with a fine carving gouge
• Then remove larger areas with a wider gouge
• Always carve away from your body and never put your other hand in front of the blade
• Check with a test print on paper and carve away any remaining bits that print unintentionally
