The da Vinci FIT series 379 school brush is a flat brush with synthetic bristles for lessons and hobby painting. The fibres are elastic and hard-wearing and keep their shape even under firm pressure. This makes it suitable for thick paints such as acrylic, oil and tempera, which are hard to spread with soft hair. It is intended for beginners because it is easier to clean than a brush with natural bristles.

The handle is short with a matt green lacquer finish and a grippy surface. This lets you hold the brush close to the bristles and gives you more control when applying opaque paint. The ferrule is made of rustproof aluminium and holds the bristles firmly in place. The bristles are vegan. Choose your size from the options.

Working with the flat brush

Use the broad side to apply paint over larger areas and the narrow edge for straight lines and outlines. With thick paint, do not load too much onto the brush and wipe it off on the edge of the palette so that the bristles do not clump. The strong bristles keep their shape even under firm pressure, which helps when blocking in large areas and when working with stencils.

Cleaning and care

Wash acrylic paint out with water and a little soap straight after painting, otherwise it dries in the bristles. Remove oil paint with a brush cleaner for oil paints. Do not leave the brush standing in water with the bristles pointing down, as the bristles may bend. Leave it to dry lying flat.
