da Vinci Series 36 – round watercolour brush in Kolinsky red sable hair
The da Vinci Series 36 red sable watercolour brush is a round brush made from Kolinsky red sable hair for watercolour and gouache painting. The natural hair holds plenty of paint and releases it evenly. This gives you soft, controlled gradients, and the tip allows precise lines. Series 36 is the entry point to da Vinci's red sable collection.
The ferrule is a seamless, rustproof silver ferrule. The short, polished black handle has an angular shape, sits well in the hand and does not roll off the table. Choose your size from the options.
Working with the round brush
Before loading it with paint, dip the brush briefly in clean water so that the hair soaks up water and the paint flows evenly. Use the tip to draw fine lines and add details. If you press the brush down harder, you use the belly of the hair for broader strokes and glazes. Use small sizes for fine details and outlines, larger ones for areas and gradients. As the brush holds a lot of paint, you need to re-dip less often and can lay down a gradient in a single stroke.
Care for a fine tip
After painting, rinse the brush in clear, lukewarm water and shape the hairs with your fingers. Leave it to dry lying flat and never stand it tip down in a water jar, otherwise the natural hair will bend.
