The Hahnemühle watercolour postcards (rough) are 30 cards made from natural white watercolour paper, measuring 10.5 × 14.8 cm (A6). You paint them yourself, then send them or give them as little works of art, greetings or holiday memories.

The paper weighs 230 gsm and has a rough surface. It suits both dry and wet techniques, for example watercolour, gouache and fine liners. Painting on the rough surface

The rough surface takes up colour vividly, and watercolour pigments settle in the hollows, creating visible texture. For very fine details you will need a steady hand and a pointed brush, as the grain makes lines fray easily. Test fine liners on a corner first.

Tips for watercolour in postcard format

With plenty of water, paper of 230 gsm can cockle. Before painting, tape the edges of the card to a firm surface with masking tape, and only remove the tape once the paint is completely dry. The design on the box may vary, as the metal box is released in a limited edition with different covers.
