Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen Set of 8 in Black – Ink Pens with Eight Tips

The case contains eight black ink pens from Faber-Castell for sketches, drawings, layouts, fashion drawings and illustrations. The pens contain pigmented drawing ink. It is waterproof and permanent and, according to the manufacturer, has the highest lightfastness. The ink is odourless, acid-free and pH-neutral and does not bleed through the paper. Because the ink is waterproof, you can colour your drawing later with watercolours or markers without the lines running.

The set includes fineliner tips in several sizes, a 1.5 mm tip, a calligraphy tip and two brush tips. You can draw contours and outlines for comic and manga drawings, and work with one set of pens from very fine lines to bold areas. The case is made from 100% recycled plastic.

Which tip for what?

Each tip has its own job, so it is worth looking at the sizes:

• XXS (0.05 mm), S (0.3 mm) and F (0.5 mm): fine lines for details, hatching and contours
• M (0.7 mm) and 1.5 mm: bolder lines and outlines
• C (calligraphy, 2.5 mm): lettering and lines with varying stroke width
• B (brush tip) and Fude hard (hard brush tip): strokes that you vary through pressure

Working with the pens

Sketch with a pencil first and then go over the contours with ink. Let the ink dry before you rub out the pencil, otherwise it will smudge. For very fine lines, choose smooth paper so that the thin tip does not catch on the surface. For outlines, start with the finest tip and move on to the thicker ones; this way you keep control over line widths and depth.
