The Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen Black set contains six black ink pens (colour 199) in six line widths from 0.05 to 1.5 mm. You can use it for sketches, drawings, layouts, fashion drawings and illustrations. The pigmented drawing ink is highly lightfast, waterproof and permanent. It is odourless, acid-free and pH-neutral and, according to the manufacturer, does not bleed through the paper. This is useful if you draw on thin paper or in sketchbooks.

The six pens come together in a case. Each nib has its own job, so you do not need to buy single pens to complete a drawing.

Which line width for what?

Use the fine pens XXS (0.05 mm) and XS (0.1 mm) for details, fine hatching and small formats. With S (0.3 mm) and F (0.5 mm) you draw contours and outlines, for example in comic and manga drawings. M (0.7 mm) and the 1.5 mm pen add bold accents, emphasise foregrounds and fill small areas.

Working with the set

Sketch in pencil first and only then go over the lines with ink. Let the ink dry completely before erasing, otherwise it will smudge. Because the ink is waterproof and permanent, once it is dry you can go over it with watercolours or marker pens without the lines running. Test this first on a scrap sheet with your paper.
