Prym magnetic seam guide – for even seam allowances

The Prym seam guide (art. no. 611976) is a magnetic guide for your sewing machine. It helps you keep the seam allowance exact from the cut edge or hem edge. The magnet holds it firmly in place on the metal plate of the machine at the distance you want from the needle, and it acts as a stop for the fabric edge. This way you sew parallel to the fabric edge or hem edge, even without markings on the fabric.

The seam guide is made of sturdy steel, finished without burrs, with rounded edges. You can easily lift it off the metal plate using the tab protruding at the back.

Setting the seam allowance

Place the seam guide on the metal plate to the right of the needle and measure the distance from the needle to the guiding edge. This distance is your seam allowance. Adjust the seam guide if needed, then let the fabric edge run lightly along it without pushing or pulling. This gives you an even seam, and the edge stays at the same distance from the needle along its whole length. To remove it, take hold of the tab at the back and slide the seam guide sideways off the plate.
