Webbing 25 mm – water-repellent for leads, collars and halters

This webbing is 25 mm wide and 2.5 mm thick. You can sew dog leads, collars, halters or horse bridles from it and make outdoor accessories that cope with damp and dirt. The webbing is water-repellent and bacteria-resistant, so it is hygienic and easy to keep clean. It is sturdier than conventional polypropylene webbing, abrasion-resistant and keeps its shape. The pattern is visible on both sides, so there is no wrong side and your work looks the same from the front as from the back.

Working with the webbing

Cut the webbing to length with sharp scissors and seal the cut edges against fraying. Snap hooks, rings and buckles should match the 25 mm width exactly, otherwise the webbing will sit crooked in the fitting. Sew the loops with strong thread in several rows of stitching or with a boxed X stitch. Leads and halters are subject to heavy strain: choose fittings and seams to suit the load and check them before first use.

Choosing the width

25 mm is the widest of the three widths (16, 20 and 25 mm) and suits larger dogs and horse tack; narrower webbing suits small animals and fine work.
