Gütermann creativ silk thread R 753 (art. no. 723878) is a natural thread made from 100 % silk for raised decorative stitches, decorative seams and hand-sewn buttonholes. According to Gütermann, the thread has a fine sheen and a three-dimensional look. As a result, decorative seams stand out clearly from the fabric. The spool holds 30 m. Choose your colour from the options.

Gütermann also recommends the silk for joining seams and topstitching on medium-weight to heavy fabrics. The thread is No. 40 thickness. It is a strong thread that stays clearly visible as a decorative stitch.

Uses for the silk thread

The strong thread is made for decorative stitching such as contrast seams on collars, pockets or button bands. Hand-sewn buttonholes, for example on jackets, blazers or coats made from medium-weight to heavy fabrics, also work well with it. The sheen shows to best effect on fabrics that are fairly matt themselves.

Needle and bobbin thread

Gütermann recommends a universal needle NM 90–110. This needle is thick enough for the thread to run freely through the eye without fraying. For the bobbin thread, the manufacturer suggests silk S 303. Before starting on the actual project, sew a test piece on a fabric scrap to set the stitch length and thread tension.
