Prym Tapestry Needles No. 18–24 – for Coarse Embroidery and Sewing in Wool Ends
The Prym blunt-tip tapestry needles (art. no. 125560) are hand needles with a rounded point for embroidery with thicker threads and for sewing in wool ends. The point is rounded. It pushes the fibres aside instead of piercing them, so it is gentle on the material. The card contains 6 needles in sizes No. 18–24.
The eye is punched symmetrically and is free of burrs. It is large enough to thread thicker threads or wool easily. The needles are made of hardened steel. According to Prym, the ratio of length to thickness gives good flexibility in use.
What the blunt tip is for
On coarse fabric with open holes, such as canvas, the needle glides through the holes without splitting the threads of the base fabric. When sewing in wool ends, it pushes the stitches aside and does not pierce the yarn of the knitted piece.
Which size should you choose?
The sizes No. 18–24 cover a range of thread thicknesses. As a rule of thumb, the eye must take the thread without you having to force it through. For thicker yarns, choose a needle with a larger eye (lower number), and for thinner yarns a higher number.
