Rayher silicone mould Nativity scene – 11 designs for casting with concrete, Raysin or wax

The Rayher silicone mould Nativity scene (art. no. 36131000) is a 2-part mould for casting a complete Christmas nativity scene with 11 designs yourself. Mould 1 contains the stable as well as Joseph, Mary and Jesus in the manger. Mould 2 contains the kings, cow, donkey and sheep. The stable measures 14.5 × 11 cm, and the figures are between approx. 2.5 and 7.5 cm tall, depending on the design. All designs have a base width of 1.8 cm.

According to Rayher, the mould is suitable for creative concrete, decorative concrete, Raysin casting powder, casting resin and wax. The silicone is flexible and keeps its shape, and the mould is reusable and easy to demould.

Casting compound and quantities needed

The result depends on the casting compound: concrete and Raysin give sturdy, matt figures for indoors and outdoors, while wax suits candle and decorative figures. For both moulds together, Rayher gives the following quantities:

• Decorative concrete or creative concrete 5in1: 810 g, of which 490 g for the mould with the stable and 320 g for the mould with the kings
• Raysin 200: 730 g, of which 450 g for the mould with the stable and 280 g for the mould with the kings

Method

Place the mould on a level surface so that the figures come out evenly. The designs can be cast to different heights, so you can make them flatter or thicker. After filling, tap the mould lightly so that air bubbles rise to the surface. Do not demould until the compound has fully hardened or cooled, and carefully bend the soft silicone away from the figures. The slim figures such as Joseph, Mary and the kings in particular break easily otherwise. Acrylic paints and marker pens are suitable for painting. After demoulding, clean the mould with water and, if needed, a little washing-up liquid. Once you have used a mould for concrete, resin or wax, do not use it for food again.
