Chicago Screws, Gold-Coloured Binding Screws

Gold-coloured Chicago screws – bind loose sheets neatly and undo them again

Chicago screws, also called binding screws or book screws, hold loose sheets together as a book or booklet. Typical examples are menus and dissertations. This version is gold-coloured, so it suits projects where the fastening is meant to stay visible.

A Chicago screw consists of a hollow screw with an internal thread and a matching screw part. You can undo the fastening again, swap pages and add new ones. Choose your size from the options.

Binding with Chicago screws

Punch all the sheets at the same point so that the holes line up exactly when stacked. Push the hollow screw through the stack from one side, insert the screw part from the other side and screw the two together firmly. Because you can undo the fastening, pages can be added or swapped later.

Which size to choose

Measure the thickness of your stack of sheets beforehand and choose the matching size from the options. If the screw is too tight a fit, the binding will not hold properly. If the stack is much thinner, the fastening will wobble.
