Botz 9494 Mint matt liquid glaze – matt earthenware glaze in a soft mint shade

Botz liquid glaze 9494 Mint matt is a glaze for earthenware that fires to a smooth, pleasant-feeling, even matt finish in a soft mint shade. It is a plain, opaque colour, applied with a brush to bisque-fired ceramics.

The firing range is 1020–1060 °C, and the glaze stays stable within this range. According to Botz, it can also be fired up to 1100 °C. This lets you adapt it to your kiln and your earthenware firing schedules.

Application

The glaze is ready to use, but can be thinned with a little water if needed. It is important that the clay body has first been bisque-fired at 950 °C or above.

• Stir the glaze well before applying
• Thin with water if needed
• Apply with a brush to the bisque-fired ceramics
• Allow to dry well, then apply a further coat if needed
• Fire within the firing range of 1020–1060 °C

Mixing and combining

According to Botz, Mint matt mixes well with other opaque matt glazes, namely numbers 9107, 9108, 9489 to 9494 and 9612. This lets you vary the shade. Always mix a small amount in a fixed ratio and fire a test piece before glazing a whole piece. Make a note of the mixing ratio so that you can repeat the result.
