Botz Unidekor 4043 Hellrot – universal decorating colour for underglaze, overglaze and in-glaze

Botz Unidekor 4043 Hellrot is a liquid universal decorating colour for ceramics in a glossy, opaque light red. You can use it for underglaze, overglaze and in-glaze techniques, as well as for porcelain painting, majolica technique and relief work. The firing range of 1000–1250 °C gives you plenty of room when choosing your firing.

The colour can be mixed with the other Unidekor colours and, undiluted, is also suitable for airbrush. This lets you try out several techniques with one shade, rather than buying a separate colour for each technique.

Using Unidekor 4043

The technique you choose determines the application and the overglaze:

• Underglaze: once dry, coat the decoration thinly with Botz 9106.
• In-glaze ("glaze+paint"): apply the colour to the unfired glaze. Matt Botz glazes are particularly suitable, for example 9108, 9107, 9487–9491 and 9612.
• Marbling: diluted, on a dampened or glost-fired clay body, i.e. glazed and fired.
• Airbrush: use the colour undiluted.

Mixing and planning the shade

All Unidekor colours can be mixed with each other. Mixed with Botz 4009 Weiß they give pastel shades, so the light red becomes softer pinks. If you need something darker or warmer, the series includes, for example, 4044 Dunkelrot and 4042 Orange. A test piece on your own clay body shows you how the application and technique look before firing.
