Botz UNIDEKOR 4012 Capriblau – opaque decorating colour for underglaze, overglaze and in-glaze
Botz UNIDEKOR 4012 Capriblau is a liquid universal decorating colour in a deep blue for ceramics and porcelain. You can use it as an underglaze, overglaze or in-glaze colour, for example in porcelain painting, majolica technique or relief technique. The shade is solid, opaque and glossy after firing. The firing range is 1000–1250 °C, so you can fire the colour at low temperatures as well as on stoneware.
Unidekor colours can be mixed with one another. Mix pastel shades with 4009 Weiß. Undiluted, the colour is also suitable for airbrush. Slightly diluted, you can marble on damp or fired clay or on bisque ware.
How to use Unidekor
Before firing, the colour looks matt and less intense. It only shows its full brilliance after firing, so do not judge the shade from the unfired application.
- Underglaze technique: Botz recommends glazing over the decorating colour with a thin coat of BOTZ 9106.
- Once dry, you can also coat the colour with a clear glaze using a soft brush.
- In-glaze technique "glaze+paint": apply the colour to the dry, unfired glaze. Matt Botz glazes such as 9108, 9107, 9487–9491 and 9612 are suitable. According to the data sheet, glaze 9102 is not suitable.
- With the in-glaze technique, firing follows the firing range of the base glaze.
Choosing and mixing colours
Capriblau is a strong blue. For lighter shades, mix it with 4009 Weiß to make a pastel. As all Unidekor colours can be mixed with one another, you can create your own blues. Note down the mixing ratio and fire a test piece before decorating larger areas.
