The Meyco stamp block (art. no. 65077) is a carving block for making your own stamps for paper, canvas and fabric. At 110 × 110 × 10 mm, it offers plenty of space for motifs, logos or lettering.

The soft material can be worked with carving tools and cut to the size you want if needed. This means you can also make several small stamps from one block.

Turning the block into a stamp

What matters is that your print comes out the right way round. Draw the design in mirror image, especially for lettering. Whatever should show in the print stays raised, and you carve away everything else.

• Draw the design in mirror image on the block with a pencil
• First score the outlines shallowly, then carve away the areas around them
• Work in several shallow cuts rather than one deep cut
• Always cut away from your body, keeping the hand that holds the block behind the blade
• Cut the block to the size you want beforehand if needed

Which size to choose

At 110 × 110 mm, the block suits one large motif or a line of lettering. For small individual stamps, cut it into several pieces. A test print on scrap paper shows you whether any ridges still need to be carved away.
