da Vinci Series 5389 – three synthetic brushes for watercolour and lettering
The da Vinci watercolour brush set series 5389 contains three synthetic brushes from the COSMOTOP-SPIN range for watercolour, lettering and silk painting. It was developed together with the creative studio May & Berry.
The extra-fine, light brown synthetic fibres are elastic and supple. They take up water and paint and release them evenly, so fine lines and soft colour gradients are equally possible. The ferrules are rustproof. The short, red lacquered handle has an Esagonal (hexagonal) cross-section. It sits well in the hand and does not roll off the table easily.
Which brush for which task?
The two round brushes no. 3 and no. 6 cover the most common tasks: with no. 3 you can paint fine lines, details and small letters, and with no. 6 larger motifs and bolder strokes. No. 12 from series 5880 is the largest brush in the set and is suited to broader areas of colour and gradients. This gives you a set of different sizes for lettering, watercolour motifs and backgrounds.
Working with the set
Dampen the brush with clean water before painting and wipe off excess water. For a soft gradient, first apply water or a light colour and then place the second colour into the still damp area. For sharp contours, work on a dry surface with little water in the brush.
Care
Rinse the brushes in clean water after painting and reshape the hairs. Leave them to dry lying flat so that water does not run into the ferrule and loosen the glue. Do not leave the brushes standing in water with the hairs pointing down.
