Canson XL watercolour spiral pad – 300 gsm paper for watercolour and wet techniques

The Canson XL watercolour spiral pad is a drawing pad with heavy 300 gsm watercolour paper for school, college and practice studies. The paper has a fine grain and reinforced surface sizing, so you can apply paint and correct it while wet. It suits watercolour, gouache and acrylic.

The sheets are micro-perforated and can be torn cleanly out of the spiral once dry. The pad comes in three DIN sizes with 20 or 30 sheets, depending on the size. Choose the size from the options.

What the pad is suited to

At 300 gsm the paper is much heavier than ordinary drawing paper and takes water-based paints better. The fine surface texture and the surface sizing make wet corrections possible: you can lift or blend paint with clean water and a brush. The acid-free paper does not yellow as quickly, so your studies keep their fresh colour for longer. The pad works well for colour sketches, colour swatches and exercises in glazes and gradients.

Tips for use

Let wet sheets dry completely before you turn the page. With a lot of water, even thick paper can cockle slightly; so work with a moderately wet brush and lay the pad flat. Tear finished sheets out along the micro-perforation to keep the edge clean.
