The Colour Grip set of 36 from Faber-Castell (art. no. 112442) contains water-soluble triangular colouring pencils in 36 colours for drawing, colouring in and watercolour-style effects. According to the manufacturer, the ergonomic triangular shape and the patented grip zone give a secure grip and better hold.

A special bonding process makes the leads particularly break-resistant. The colour can be washed out of most textiles. Each pencil has a name field, so they do not get mixed up at school, for example. According to Faber-Castell, the pencils are suitable for older children.

Working with water-soluble colouring pencils

First draw as you would with an ordinary colouring pencil, then blend the colour with a damp brush. This creates soft transitions and watercolour-style areas. For stronger lines, you can also briefly moisten the pencil tip. Use thicker paper, such as watercolour paper or drawing card, so that it does not cockle when wetted. Work with little water, otherwise the colours will run.

The Colour Grip series is available as a set of 6, 12, 24 or 36, and as a set of 10 with an eraser. With 36 colours you have many shades to hand and need to mix less when painting. Smaller sets are enough for beginners and pencil cases.
