The Faber-Castell Super-Polymer 0.5 mm pencil leads are refills for mechanical pencils. You can use them for writing, sketching and drawing at the office, at school or for creative work. According to the manufacturer, the leads are extra break-resistant, exceptionally smooth and produce rich, deep black lines. They fit all standard mechanical pencils for 0.5 mm leads. The tube contains 12 leads and a handy filling aid that makes refilling your pencil easy.

Will the lead fit your mechanical pencil?

The diameter is what matters: your mechanical pencil must be marked 0.5 mm, otherwise the lead will jam or slip through. Advance the lead only as far as you need for writing. A longer length sticks out further and snaps more easily under pressure.

Which hardness grade should you choose?

Softer leads in the B range give darker lines and suit sketching, but wear down faster. Harder leads in the H range stay sharp for longer and give lighter, finer lines, for example for technical drawings. The line width colour code on the tube helps you tell tubes with different line widths apart.
