Pascuali Balayage – hand-dyed baby alpaca and merino yarn

Pascuali Balayage is a hand-dyed yarn made from 80% alpaca wool (baby alpaca) and 20% virgin wool (extra fine merino, mulesing-free). It knits up into jumpers and other pieces with a soft handle and lively colour play. According to the manufacturer, the yarn is dyed by hand in Germany. Each skein weighs 50 g and has a length of approx. 175 m. That works out at roughly 350 m per 100 g, so you can plan easily by length.

The yarn was developed together with knitwear designer Melanie Berg. Balayage comes in five colour blocks, each with four individual colours arranged like a colour gradient. Colours from the same block give a calm, harmonious look, while colours from different blocks look more contrasting. Choose your colour from the options.

Planning your project

With 50 g per skein, you can work out your quantity piece by piece. For a jumper in size S/M, yarn requirements are approx. 400 g, i.e. about 8 skeins, depending on the design. The tension details are given above in the product details. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the manufacturer's figure is only a guide.

Colours and dye lots

According to the manufacturer, the skeins are dyed in 1 kg batches, with the aim of achieving the greatest possible consistency. Colour differences between individual dye lots are still possible. It is therefore best to buy the quantity for your project in one go from the same dye lot.
