Atelier Zitron Trekking 4-ply Tweed – sock yarn with polyamide

Trekking 4-ply Tweed from Atelier Zitron is a 4-ply sock yarn made from 75% virgin wool and 25% polyamide. You can knit socks and other small items with it. The polyamide content makes the yarn more hard-wearing, which matters most at the heel and toe, where socks take the most strain. The yarn is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, product class 1 and is made in Germany.

Each ball weighs 100 g and has a length of approx. 420 m. You can use this figure to estimate how much you need for your pattern. Choose your colour from the options.

What Trekking Tweed is used for

With the recommended needle size of 2–3 mm, you knit socks in the usual thickness for everyday shoes. A 4-ply sock yarn is also a good choice for smaller projects such as leg warmers, hats or scarves. Wool with polyamide lasts longer in heavily worn areas than pure virgin wool.

Knitting and tension

Knit socks on double-pointed needles or a short circular needle in the size given in your pattern. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. For large shoe sizes, long legs or knee-high socks, allow for more than one ball, based on the length of 420 m per ball. Buy the quantity from the same dye lot if possible, so that both socks look the same.
