URSUS Kitten Lantern Craft Kit – all the materials for a round paper lantern

With the Kitten lantern craft kit from URSUS (art. no. 18700015), you make a round lantern in the shape of a cat. The kit contains the materials for one lantern: a round die-cut lantern blank with a diameter of 21.8 cm, tracing paper, coloured card, glitter paper, a candle holder and a carrying handle. A template sheet with instructions is also included.

The instructions explain step by step how to transfer the shapes of the individual paper pieces from the template sheet, cut them out and stick them onto the lantern blank. You therefore don't have to come up with any designs yourself, and the quantities of paper are matched to the design.

Making the lantern

First transfer the shapes from the template sheet onto the relevant type of paper and cut them out neatly. Before gluing, lay the pieces on the lantern blank to see how the kitten will sit. On tracing paper, a sparing amount of glue is enough, because the thin paper otherwise tends to wrinkle.

Lighting

The candle holder and carrying handle are part of the kit; a light source is not included. For a paper lantern, an LED light or an electric lantern stick is a good choice. Both are flameless and safe for paper. If you use a real candle, keep it at a sufficient distance from the paper.
