URSUS Polar Bear Lantern Craft Kit – make your own lantern with a polar bear design

With the URSUS polar bear lantern craft kit, you make a round lantern with a polar bear design, for example for lantern parades or as a decoration. The kit contains all the materials: a pre-punched lantern blank, tracing paper, coloured card, glitter paper, a candle holder, a carrying handle and a pattern sheet with instructions.

The instructions explain step by step how to trace the shapes of the individual paper pieces from the pattern sheet, cut them out and glue them onto the lantern blank. You therefore transfer the designs onto the papers yourself. The punched lantern measures 21.8 cm wide, 21 cm high and 10.3 cm deep.

How to make the lantern

First read the instructions on the pattern sheet and sort the papers by colour. Then work in this order:

• Trace the shapes of the individual pieces from the pattern sheet onto the coloured card
• Cut out the pieces neatly
• Glue the pieces onto the lantern blank following the instructions
• Attach the candle holder and the carrying handle

Light and glue

The lantern is made of paper and card. For the glow inside, a flameless LED light is therefore better suited than an open flame. When gluing, the glue should not be too wet, so that the thin tracing paper does not wrinkle; a quick test on an offcut shows whether the glue suits the paper.
