Botz 9608 Harlekin liquid glaze – white glaze with colourful running flecks
Botz 9608 Harlekin liquid glaze is a glossy, opaque glaze for earthenware. It is white and contains colourful running flecks in red, yellow, green and blue. Bowls, figures and decorative pieces get a lively, speckled play of colour without you having to combine several glazes. The glaze is ready to use; just stir it well.
The flecks run into one another during firing. The thicker you apply the glaze, the more continuous the colourful effect looks. Good to know for your design: you can apply Harlekin irregularly in places over a plain glaze, for example over 9604 Orange. This creates lively effects on a calm background.
Application
Apply the glaze to ceramic that has already been bisque-fired. The bisque firing should have been carried out at 950 °C or above.
- Stir the glaze well and thin with a little water if needed
- Apply to the bisque-fired ceramic with a brush
- Leave to dry well and apply another coat if needed
- Fire in the firing range 1020–1060 °C, in which the glaze is stable
Designing with running flecks
The colourful flecks can run during firing. For this reason, avoid placing large flecks on the lower part of vessels and objects if possible. The glaze will then not run down to the base. For a dense play of colour, apply a thick coat. For a subtle accent, apply Harlekin only in places and irregularly over a plain glaze, for example over 9604 Orange.
