Mayco Jungle Gems CG-716 Pagoda Green – green crystal glaze for decorative ceramics

Mayco Jungle Gems Crystal Glaze CG-716 Pagoda Green is a brush-on glaze for bisque-fired ceramics. It is a transparent green base glaze with varying sage green and brown crystals. The container holds 118 ml.

You can use it on decorative pieces such as vases, bowls and other objects. Mayco labels the glaze as not suitable for dinnerware (Not Dinnerware Safe), so it belongs only on decorative items and not on vessels used for eating or drinking. Because the base glaze is transparent, the colour of your clay body shows through. A test piece will show you beforehand what the result looks like.

Applying Pagoda Green

Shake the glaze well before each use and stir it so that the crystals are evenly distributed. The glaze is not suitable for spraying.

• Apply it to bisque-fired ceramics (bisque firing cone 04, approx. 1063 °C, guide value per Orton chart).
• Brush on 2–3 even coats with the fan brush.
• Let each coat dry between applications.
• If needed, redistribute the crystals on the third coat so that the coverage is even.
• Let the glaze dry thoroughly before firing.

Firing and crystals

Fire the glaze at cone 06 (approx. 998 °C, guide value per Orton chart) to cone 05 (approx. 1031 °C, guide value per Orton chart). The crystals are fluid and may run. Do not apply them near the base, so that nothing runs onto the kiln shelf. Pagoda Green belongs to the Mayco Jungle Gems series, which includes further crystal colours that differ in base colour and crystals.
